Change Is Hard

Change is hard

No one prepares you for it

People warn you, but they don’t give details

It’s like a caution sign on a slippery floor

You are told that it’s wet, but what happens when you slip?

No one is there to help you up

The ones who put up the sign have left

At least in this day and age

You are on your own

Change is hard

It’s scary

Unexpected

And it happens so quickly

Whether it’s a change in the people around you, your environment, your emotions and feelings, your mind, or even your body

I think I have always struggled with change

I don’t like it

I look in the treacherous mirror, and I see myself

But it isn’t the old me

It isn’t the 16-year-old me, or the 18-year-old me, or the 20-year-old me

It’s the 22-year-old me

And it’s scary

Unpredictable

I don’t know what to expect

I guess that’s exciting

But honestly, I wish I could go back to the way things were when I was 18

The same body, the same friends, the same home life, endless possibilities, and a carefree mindset that had no obligations

Change is hard

But we must push through

And endure
