All my life, I have been ready

When I was in elementary school, I was ready 

I was ready to grow up

I was ready for middle school

Then I was there

I was in middle school, and I was ready

I was ready to move on

I was ready forhigh schooll 

Then I was there

I was finally in high school 

When I was there, I was ready

I was ready for the next stage of my life

I heard all the stories

Heard all the praise 

And I was ready

I was eager and excited

Ambitious to move on

Then I was finally there 

I finally got to college

And now I’m in college

I have never been so empty

I have never been so sad

I had never felt so lonely and numb 

I guess things aren’t always as they seem
