a cannon event

bound to happen

always striking at midnight

in the dark

holding a knife

sneaking up at the right time 

like clockwork

always a crime

like a jack in its box

jump scare

just popping up

But it never gives up

then laughs 

breaking you like glass

You weren’t chosen

You never are

because hurting others 

it’s your cover

and leaves the deepest scars
